Emperor Torrino II Sirius “the Great”

Torrino “the Great” was born on the 18th of January 1110 in Rosewood, to Emperor and Empress Philip I and Charlotte Gerarinian. He was briefly tutored by his father’s primary tutor, Lord Marshal Argonon var Emril. However, after Lord Argonon’s resignation, he was left without good tutors. It was then that he was enrolled in the Rosewood University and studied the art of war, as his father believed this to be the central skill in these turbulent times. As he entered the university when he was 16 summers old, he finished in his 22nd year, just in time to assume the title of Emperor due to his father’s untimely death. Fellow scholars from the University described him as “diligent, passionate, and determined.” He had all the makings of a good ruler. He trusted those who he thought knew better than him and he enjoyed martial history, granting him favor with his father. Torrino “the Great’s” reign begins with his father’s death in 1133 and would last until 1157. His rule will be remembered as one of great triumph and advancement. Military technology was improved as per the Emperor’s efforts to win the war by overpowering his enemies. Torrino II was the first Sirius Emperor to be crowned as the Emperor of the Second Carolingian Empire. Crowned by Pope Alexander II, he attempted to restore Frankish dominance within the region. He reformed the Imperial Army and brought it to its height, after fighting a few succession wars with contenders around him. Through his mother, Empress Mother Charlotte, he inherited the lands of the Aqvintian Empire, bringing the Empire to its territorial height. Torrino II was married to Carolina de Chatersberg. However, while he was out campaigning, the young Empress died of cancer. As such, Torrino “the Great’s” favorable seed was never sown. His brother Prince Charles Sirius married Princess Georgina Dover, and his sister, Princess Antoinette Sirius married Prince Willhelm Verduin of Holland. During the Battle of Rosewood in 1156, Torrino II was struck by a stray crossbow bolt and rendered incapacitated. While bed-ridden he named his brother Charles as his successor, seeing as the Emperor had no children of his own. Torrino “the Great” would later die of his wounds on the 23rd of December 1157.
